Dussehra , Vijay Dashmi Celebrated Peacefully Across Doda.  BY ABID PAMPORI  Doda::     The festival of Dussehra that symbolizes the victory of righteousness over evil was today celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across  Doda district.         At Doda the celebrations began with the taking out Shobha Yatra  and culminated with the burning of the effigies of Ravana,  Kumbhkaran, and Meghnath. Large number people from all walks of life participated in the Dussehra procession at  . Cellular Connectivity Extended to Remotest Village of Kishtwar  BY ABID PAMPORI  Doda ::Sondar village is an extremely remote village in kishtwar District with very less population.  road connectivity does not exist to sondar.  This remote location in Kishtwar district remains in winters due to poor infrastructure.  The region is so backward that even mobile phone services has not even reached this village.   In past four months with the joint efforts of Army and BsNL has led to the installation of BSNL mobile tower at Sondar.  Installation of mobile and the effort required involved enormous coordination between Indian Army and BSNL.  The stores for the tower,  communication equipment were transported to Sondar over a period of 4 months.  The mobile services Sondar commenced recently and has been a boon for the people of Sondar and surrounding villages.   This gesture has given immense relief to the population of this remote village of J&K and shall go a long way not only in s

BY ABID PAMPORI Doda::Under the auspices of hon'ble Prime Minister's call of Swachh Bharat Mission to attain clean and green India by making the country free of garbage, filth and litter NSS Unit of GDC Doda carried out a massive cleanliness cum awareness drive at District Hospital Doda. The event was organised under the supervision of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi Principal Govt Degree College Doda. A group of 48 volunteers led by NSS programme officer Prof Bashir Ahmed were accompanied by Dr Jamsheed Ahmad and Dr Sarvjeet Singh. The students were divided into small groups and were deputed to various wards and departments of the hospital. DDC Doda listens to people’s issues at Goha Marmat BY ABID PAMPORI DODA, SEPTEMBER 27: Deputy Commissioner Doda Bhawani Rakwal today called for prompt redress of public grievances at their doorsteps and effective implementation of government schemes for public welfare and overall development of the district.          The DC was speaking at Public grievance redress camp  convened here   at Goha Village in Marmat area. The district and sectoral officers of all line departments were also present on the occasion.            The local people and adjoining areas gathered and highlighted their problems which were redressed by passing on spot directions to the district officers.          The people of the area apprised the DDC about various demands including maintenance of roads, additional SRTC buses on the route, adequate staff in tehsil Office, augmentation of water and power infrastructure, besides upgradation of PHC to New type PHC with   basic facilities of modern healthcare.

Intra-collegiate cricket tournament concludes at GDC Doda. BY ABID PAMPORI Doda::Continuing its efforts to engage the youth in co-curricular activities GDC Doda organised a T10 cricket tournament in the college ground. The first warm up match was played between the faculty and the students on 18th September. The week long tournament involved sixteen teams wherein the students showed great zeal and enthusiasm. The final match was played today in which Semester 1st beat Semester 3rd in a thrilling match. Playing first Semester 1st score 62 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 10 overs. While chasing the target Semester 3rd felt short of just 6 runs. Abrar Ahmed was adjudged as man of the match whereas Abid Hussain was declared as man of the series for his spectacular performance. NSS unit of GDC Doda observed NSS foundation day BY ABID PAMPORI  Doda:: today on 24th September 2017 under the supervision of Principal GDC Doda Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. The event was celebrated in two phases. In the first phase watering of trees was done in which students under the guidance of NSS programme officer Prof Bashir Ahmed watered around 50 trees. In the second phase cleanliness drive was carried out in the entire college campus. NSS volunteers cleaned all the drains and lawns of the college with great zeal and enthusiasm. They further cleaned  various class rooms and laboratories of the college. After the culmination of the activities Dr Rafiqi congratulated the programme officer and the volunteers. PMGSY Roads in Shambles.  BY ABID PAMPORI  Doda::The prestigious PMGSY scheme has totally failed to fulfill its aim in hilly areas. Various road projects started a few years ago have not been completed till date and the condition of road from Malothi to Gajoth and Senai to Dugli  is miserable .Both the roads were to be constructed in the shape of circular road but despite laps of more than 15 years both the roads have not been completed yet.      The Chief Engineer R & B  Jammu zone  had  promised to the people of adjoining areas  that the construction of these roads is likely to be started during holy Navratras, but  no such works have yet been started .       The inhabitants of these villages have complained  that they face many hardships due to the dilapidated condition of these roads.  The roads have become a nuisance for the commuters  especially in rainy season.

BY ABID PAMPORI  Doda::Three girls of Govt higher secondary school Mohalla namely Rabia banoo, Sahiba banoo and Yogi parihar brought laurels to the school by winning three gold medals in state level taekwondo championship recently held in budgam district of kashmir. All the three girls now have been selected for the nationals. All the staff members congratulated the girls   and wish them good luck for the national level competition which is going to held in kerala in next month. The villagers risk their lives while crossing the Nallah especially in the rainy season when the Nullah swells. Situated just one and half km from the district headquarters, the Nullah is a big challenge for the villagers, especially commuters, who have to cross it daily to reach their destinations. It becomes more dangerous during the rainy season as flash floods are a routine affair. The construction on this prestigious 24.7-m motorable girder bridge was started in 2013-14 during the Congress regime, but after the change of the government, only two pillars have been erected till now.
