TEACHERS-STUDENT TRAINING WORKSHOP CONCLUDED AT GDC KISHTWAR

KISHTWAR; SEPTEMBER 27, 2017: The ongoing three day teacher-student training workshop on Popularization of science activities under ST Plan (Project) Govt. of India which was being organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS), Jammu and Vigyan Prasar, Deptt. of Science & Technology, Noida concluded here at Govt. Degree College Kishtwar today.
The proceedings of the final day of the program which concluded with a colourful valedictory function which was presided over by Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Head Department of chemistry GDC Kishtwar where as Mr. Sureh Kumar Sen, Dy. Chief Education Officer Kishtwar were Chief Guest on the occasion. In the three day program, more than eighty (60) mobile school students and Fourty Five (45) teachers drawn from various schools of Kishtwar participated who were given training and firsthand knowledge regarding various scientific concepts using Nature and other household materials as the teaching tools. Dr. Jawaid Alam of Nature Club Patna, Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Professor Govt. Degree College Kishtwar and Mr. Arshad Hussain Dev, the main resource person of the program, in a coherent way discussed various activities to explore nature in and around surroundings. The activity tools like pooter, antarium, Terrarium, butterfly net, drip irrigation system etc were prepared during the workshop. In the third Day the resource persons  explained the concept of food chain and food web in a play way method for its better understanding with fun. Dr. Barket Ali  and Prof. Faisal Mushtaq both of Department of botany GDC Kishtwar, in their lectures threw light on the importance of various plants and their role in day to day life.
In the valedictory program, Program Coordinator dr. Ashaq Hussain presented a brief report of the program which was followed by an address by Mr. Suresh Kumar Sen, Dy. CEO Kishtwar, who lauded the efforts of Vigyan Prasar, DST and NCURDS for arranging such an activity based program for the budding scientists of the District. He further added in order to have desired and meaningful results today without the use of science nothing can be achieved and to have the scientific knowledge the practical knowledge is needed which this workshop has achieved during all these three days. At the end of the program while receiving the feedback from the participants, certificates and activity based material and other necessary material related to the study of nature was distributed among the participants by Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma Head Department of Chemistry.

The program Concluded with vote of thanks by DrZaffar-Ullah Khan founder secretary NCURDS, who while thanking Mr. B. K .Tyagi, Head Vigyan Prasar, Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, Noida for this informative program also extended thanks to the Principal and staff of Govt. Degree College Kishtwar for lending a helping hand and providing the space for organizing this program.
