Doda May08:- Former minister of State for Home and senior National Conference leader Khalid Najib Suharwardhy has said that Situation in Jammu and Kashmir has gone from bad to worst since the formation of Bhartia Janta Party and Peoples Democratic Party led government in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the rate of killings in Kashmir has increased and the common people feel insecure as violence has entered into worst phase.

He welcomed the recent statements given by Indian and Pakistani army generals who advised to start dialogues and said that guns are no solution for Kashmir problem. Suharwardhy said that dialogue is the only solution to the problem. He reiterated his party’s demand of granting autonomy to the state, adding that if there was any other formula which can satisfy the people of Kashmir National Conference would also welcome it.

Suharwardhy demanded immediate banning of Village Defense Committees in Doda district. Apprehending that these VDCs would be used for political gains by some parties Suharwardhy said that VDCs were formed to protect villages from militants but the district has been declared as militancy free years back. “Now the role of VDCs is over and all VDCs should be banned without any further delay”, suharwardhy said. Suharwardhy expressed concern over the joining educated youths in militancy.

Present governments have failed to implement the agenda of alliance that is why they are indulging into communalism both in the state and at the center, said Suharwardhy adding that this was for the first time since the independence that a vicious atmosphere of communalism is prevailing in the country and it is being aided and abated by the ruling parties. Every day incidents of communal clashes and killings are being reported from various corners of the country said Suharwardhy adding that this was being done to keep the pot boiling till the next general elections. National Conference has always fought for communal brotherhood and would continue to do so, said Suharwardhy and hoped that ultimately the communal forces will be defeated in the country.

Former MoS said that Chinab valley have never fallen into the trap of communal politics but efforts are being made to create a communal wedge here too but all the secular forces have resolved to fight against these communal forces.
