Doda:: In order to develop the backward and hiilly chenab region at par with the rest of state, various sections of society unanimously demand creation of separate administrative division for Chenab Valley comprising of  erstwhile Doda district.

Geographically Chenab Valley is a vast area coprising of three districts viz Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. All the three districts are hilly and there are still many areas where the developmental and other welfare  schemes of the government are yet to reach. There are many inaccessible villages and hamlets where people live without the basic facilities like water ,electricity and health care .The over all socio- economic condition of the people in this  region is miserable as the successive governments have not been able to develop this hard terrain due to negligent approach.

In order to ensure equitable development of the region, the establishment of a separate administrative  division  is inevitable.

It is pertinent to mention here that district Doda was separated from erstwhile Udhampur district during 1948 and since then it was the largest district areawise in our state. During the year 2006 two new districts Ramban and Kishtwar  were created and now there are three districts in the region .

Talking to news agency spokesperson of Joint Civil Society Doda Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev said that keeping in view the development of this educationally and economically backward region, the  state government should expedite the creation of separate administrative division for Chenab Valley. 'District Doda being centrally located  serves as the most hostile place in the region. Besides the climatic conditions are also favourable round the year. Hence it deserves to be made headquarter of the administrative division' he added.

Meanwhile president Doda Development front Gh Hassan Pampori in a separate statement said that the establishment of a separate administrative division is a long pending demand of the people and it is inevitable for the development of this region. He urged the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to consider the demand on priority basis and take the decisions in this regard. He said that the only solution to the grievances of the people of entire chenab region is a separate administrative division.
