Srinagar: People's Democratic Party District Presidents Doda Shahab ul Haque Butt called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at Srinagar and apprised her of several public related issues and demands of people of mountainous District Doda. Shahab also submitted a memorandum of demands before Chief Minister.
District President Doda demanded immediate construction of Doda-Dessa-Kapran road which will provide an alternate connectivity to Kashmir.
Besides other demands Creation of a Tourism Development Authority for Doda, and to develop the scenic spots that abound on the right side of river Chenab, opening of a Women College at Doda were also projected by the PDP District President before Chief Minister. Shahab sought interventions from CM for creation of recreational park in Doda town and revival of Laldraman Mela which once was an annual feature. it was told that in the absence of a Women College at Doda 80% of the girl students of a vast area on the right side of Chenab are forced to abandon studies after 10+ 2.
With submergence of Pul Doda locality caused by Baglihar Dam the affected residents are yet to be rehabilitated. A workable plan for rehabilitation of the uprooted Pul Doda residents is required to be devised at an earliest. Shahab demanded opening of cluster university under RUSA at Doda being the central place of Chenab region.
Proper Medicare facilities and deployment of specialist doctors in health centres in Doda District was also demanded. In education sector upgradation of several schools was also demanded. Honble Chief Minister was apprised by the PDP District President that in the year 2014 the then government issued an order vide No 737-Edu of 2014 dated 22-10-2014 where in HS Udhyanpur, HS Hanch, HS Trown, HS Behota, HS Shadiwan and HS Manjmi where also figuring the proposed list but for obvious reasons these schools were not upgraded. Upliftment and
renovation of all link roads in the entire district was also demanded
Chief Minister gave patient hearing to PDP District President and assured that necessary steps will be taken for the redressal of the grievances.
