Student ventures in making paper bags to support family

BY ABID PAMPORI

Doda, June 23: A young student, Vishal Sharma a resident of Shaie village presently putting up in Doda town has become an example to be followed as he single handedly supports his family by manufacturing homemade paper bags.

Vishal is a student of 12th class who earns his living by first collecting old newspapers from various places and then painstakingly prepares bags using flour glue. He has to support his mother and also take care of his younger brother. After his father went missing around six years ago, Vishal has alone supported his family and also managed marriage of his sister last year.

Beside this he is pursuing his study and wants to opt for engineering.
It is very difficult for him to study as well as earn livelihood by making paper bags which is very time consuming. He has demanded financial assistance from government as well as NGOs to fulfill his dream of becoming engineer.

His mother Amreeka Devi who earns a little by sewing is an Asthma patient and has breathing problems . She can barely afford her medicine. She says she is still waiting for her missing husband but at present her only hope is Vishal. She says that when her hard working son gets adjusted somewhere, she will have a sigh of relief. On the other hand Vishal is determined to work hard and pursue his goal. He said that his initiative of making paper bags if made into a major enterprise with official help can become a movement and help eradicate the problem of toxic polythene bags from society and also contribute to PM Modi's Swachh Bharat Campaign to a large extent .

Now it remains to be seen how soon help will arrives at Amreeka Devi's home and Vishal finds an end to his struggle. It is moral responsibility of the government and other government as well as non government organizations to lend a helping hand to Vishal so that he can achieve his aim and serve the society.

The Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir police also can help Vishal under various schemes such as Operation Sadbhavna and Civic action etc.

The district administration and other government and non government agencies are requested to come forward and lend a helping hand to this young student.
