Doda::Several school buildings have been damaged due to the wind storm on otherday  across Gundna zone in Doda district.

The wind has caused huge damage to the education sector as most of the schools in Gundna zone have  suffered great loss. Locals informed that most of the school buildings were constructed recently under the SSA and other flagship programs aimed at providing infrastructure for improvement in education especially in rural areas .

According to a report the school buildings at P/s Malikpura Dhanori, UPS Kumaral PS Wanipura Malwana, UPS Shulla,PS Tander and PS Korara have been completely damaged due to the wind storm.

The locals alleged that the use of substandard material in the construction of these school buildings is the main reason behind this loss.

Talking to the news agency president of District Rural Youth Welfare Association (DRYWA) NGO said that poor technical guidance and nepotism is the main cause behind this loss to the department. He alleged that it is due to the negligence of the concerned technical staff including JE , AE and Ex En engaged for the construction of school buildings in zone Gundna. He demanded that a high powered committee must be framed to investigate the matter and those found guilty must be punished and the amount be recovered by deducting their salaries.

Meanwhile the roof of kitchen shed in Government High School Bagla has also been damaged during the wind storm.

It is pertinent to mention here that the parents are scared of sending their children to schools due to the uncertainty regarding the safety of the schools.
