Doda:: ,: Work is no doubt worship but this work should be done voluntarily and by adults. Work or hard labour should not be taken from the young children. It is a heinous crime to force children to work in homes and factories. Hard work imposed on children is a dreadful imposition and a slap on the face of the pillars of society. Children are the blooming buds in a nation’s garden and they give us fragrance. We should not expect them to give us shade which only trees can give. Trees are like grown up and experienced men and they give us the fruit of their labour. Children are like the innocent and fresh flower which should be allowed to bloom into their prime. They should not be crushed under the evil influence of child labour but it is pity that we have burdened the children with hard labour and killed them before they could blossom into mature tree.

In erstwhile Distt Doda we have number of examples where these innocent children are dragged under the plough of child labour. In markets, people homes, shops etc are some of the places where the children below the age of 14 are working and by exploiting children and thus we have robbed the nation of its future potential.

Peoples are busy to exploit innocent children for their financial gains among them are shopkeepers and even the high class officers of different departments are practicing this in their homes. Thousands of children are working as rag pickers and servants in factories and mines. Despite legislations their employment, the children continue to work in these places.

In a statement Peace and Justice Dev. Society has termed that it is all due to poverty and unemployment thereby poorer section allow their Childs for work to contribute for the family.

It is high time that stringent measures be taken against all those who exploit children for saving on the wages to be given to the adult workers. Govt. of the world and voluntary organizations should work together to fight this anti social menace. Public opinion should be mobilized.
